Hundreds of gig and platform workers associated with digital platforms such as Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto and Urban Company participated in a nation-wide protest on Tuesday, 3 February. The protest was announced by the Gig and Platform Service Workers Union (GIPSWU).
Following the protest, gig workers submitted a Memorandum of Demands to the Prime Minister's office, calling for a separate, enforceable law; fair wages; social security protections; and an end to exploitative algorithmic practices.
