Fabricio Coloccini has discussed what it meant to be Newcastle United captain ⚫⚪
🗣️ "Being a captain in England is like an honorary title; the role is highly respected. It’s an award.
I was ‘Colo’ at the club, I’d always been ‘Colo’, but the day after being named captain, people, the staff started saying to me: ‘Good morning, captain. Good morning, captain.’ I went one by one, to the masseurs, the kit men, the groundskeepers, and told them: ‘No, I’m still ‘Colo’. I was ‘Colo’ yesterday, and I’ll keep being ‘Colo’ for everyone.’
There were details… the captain had his own exclusive parking spot, right next to the entrance, the best spot. None of the parking spaces had names or numbers; they all rotated, except for the captain’s, which was personalised. The coach’s spot, too.
When they make you captain, it’s because they truly trust you."
