US Senator Susan Collins of Maine announced that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has informed her the agency will end the immigration enforcement surge in the state.
“While the Department of Homeland Security does not confirm law enforcement operations, I can report that Secretary Noem has informed me that ICE has ended its enhanced activities in the State of Maine,” said Collins, a Republican who had publicly urged Noem to pause the enhanced efforts by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. “There are currently no ongoing or planned large-scale ICE operations here.”
