Nearly 30,000 tribal farmers and agricultural workers on Tuesday went on a 'Long March' from Nashik to Mumbai to demand land rights and implementation of the Forest Rights Act. The march, led by the CP| (M) -affiliated All India Kisan Sabha, began on Sunday after a protest at the Dindori tehsil office failed to get clear assurances from the administration, news agency PTI reported. Carrying red flags, the protesters from across tribal pockets of the district decided to take their demands to the state government by marching on foot to the capital.
Over the past two days, the marchers have covered nearly 60 km. On Tuesday morning, they began descending the Kasara Ghat and entered the neighbouring Thane district. Aerial footage of the march, uploaded by NDTV, shows the protestors swarming the road going towards Mumbai. Farmers want their land to be legally recognised up to four hectares and proper land ownership documents issued. They want separate 7/12 land records for all eligible farmers. They are asking the
